Parable of the Soils

Series: Mark

Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”                         Mark 4:3-9

In the beginning was THE WORD, and THE WORD was with God, and THE WORD was God. He was in the beginning with God. And THE WORD became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father . . .              John 1:1, 2, 14

And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead . . .  Acts 17:2-3a

If you know Christ, you can sow Christ.

And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown: when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them.     Mark 4:15

And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: the ones who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy. And they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fall away.     Mark 4:16-17

And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.                Mark 4:18-19

But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”         Mark 4:20

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.      1 Corinthians 2:14

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth . . . and he will declare to you the things that are to come . . . he will take what is mine and declare it to you.       John 16:13-14

Now we have received . . . the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.         1 Corinthians 2:12
