John 20:19

19On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of

the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

John 20:20

20When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

John 20:21

21Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

1. Fear is Always the Opposite of Faith

John 20:19

6So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

Acts 1:7

7He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.

8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and

Acts 1:8

in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

2. Peace is Always the Christian Response.

John 20:19

19…Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

Philippians 4:7

7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Acts 1:6

3. The Cross Is Always Our Hope and Motivation.

John 20:20

Romans 14:8

8For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die,

Romans 14:8

we are the Lord’s.

4. We Always Go Because Jesus Came to Us.

John 20:21

21Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

Isaiah 6:8

8And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
