Student Ministry

6th-12th grade

In Student Ministries (6th-12th grade), we join the larger church body in desiring to imitate Christ, tell His story, and relationally engage our neighbor with the life-giving truth of the gospel. As adults-in-training, we seek to do hard things, take on responsibility for building the church, and set an example for the rest of our church family in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity (1 Timothy 4:12).

Students and their families are delighted to share not only the gospel of Jesus but their very lives with one another as well (1 Thess. 2:8). We let God’s Word examine our hearts and test our ways. We promote right thinking about God and the core doctrines of the faith, which inspire the right worship and praise to our God. We earnestly pray for one another, study the Bible together, sing praises to God together, and encourage one another by pointing to Christ (and all of this multiple times a week).

The community of students and their parents gather with the larger church body to worship together on Sunday mornings (during the 9 am and 10:45 am services). Students also meet every Thursday night at CF from 6:30-9 pm in the student ministry room on the lower level of the church (room 113). We spend Thursday nights supporting and encouraging one another to follow Christ more faithfully. A typical night will include games, musical worship, gospel-centered teaching from the Bible, and small group time where we seek to apply biblical truths to our lives through interactive discussion.

Students come on Thursday night and Sunday morning not merely as a consumer looking to be ministered to and served, but also as a leader looking for ways to minister to and serve others. We also work intentionally to partner with parents in discipling their student to grow in their relationship with Jesus and with one another as the Body of Christ.

Our vision is to partner with parents to cultivate life-long followers (disciples) of Jesus. We seek to support and complement the ways parents are leading their student to foster an ever-deepening dependence and trust in Jesus. As an outside voice into the students lives, we humbly aim to provide care and guidance as we point students to Jesus Christ and challenge them to take ownership of their faith. Providing this input from a position of influence is a big responsibility and privilege founded on the trust given us by parents, something we do not take fore-granted. Our earnest prayer is that our middle school and high school students would submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, becoming gospel-rooted disciple-makers who give their whole lives to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ (through service in the local church and on mission in their community).
